Completing the IELTS Application Form
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is a comprehensive test of English language proficiency designed to assess the ability of non-native speakers of English who intend to study or train in the medium of English. IELTStests the complete range of English language skills, which will commonly be encountered by students when studying or training in English speaking settings.
All candidates take the same Listening and Speaking tests. There is an option of either Academic or General Training modules for Reading and Writing tests. The Academic module is suitable for candidates planning to study in an institution of higher learning. General Training is suitable for candidates planning to undertake non-academic training or work experience, or for immigration purposes.
IELTS is accepted by most American, Australian, British, Canadian and New Zealand academic institutions. It is also accepted by many professional organizations including the New Zealand Immigration Service, the Australian Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs, the Australian Medical Council, the UK General Medical Council and the UK Ministry of Defense.
Veterinary (ECFVG)/Medical (CGFNS/ICHP) organizations requiring IELTS:
Veterinary Professionals (ECFVG) – IELTS Academic module (No score requirements available)
Registered Nurses (RN), Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists, Clinical Laboratory Scientists (Medical Technologists) and Physician Assistants – IELTS Academic module ONLY (Overall band score of 6.5, Speaking band score of 7.0)
For VisaScreen and Registered Nurses – required to pass either the IELTS, the TOEIC or the TOEFL (NOT the TWE, TSE or the MELABs)
Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses (LPN/LVN) and Clinical Laboratory Technicians (Medical Technicians) – IELTS General Training module (Overall band score of 6.0, Speaking band score of 7.0)
General Application Procedures
All applications must be submitted by mail or e-mail and received 10 business days before each intended test date. Your application package must include:
1) Completed application form. The application form can be downloaded from our website at inlinguaenglish.edu or filled out online at www.ielts.org
2) Payment of $185. Acceptable forms of payments are certified check, money order (payable to: inlingua English Center), credit or debit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover or ATM bank card) or PayPal: PayPal@inlinguadc.com (Please, attach a copy of the receipt to your application) NOTE: We do not accept Personal Checks! 3) Two passport-size photos (If you are submitting additional documents through e-mail, please make sure that the picture is in .jpeg or .jpg format, squared, and LESS than 10KB)
4) Photocopy of a valid passport (Photocopy the page with your picture, passport number, DOB, and expiration date)

You will be sent a confirmation letter via e-mail within 3- 5 business days, upon our receipt of your application and fees. If there is no space available on your intended test date you will be automatically booked on the next date indicated on your application. Once you are confirmed for a date, there are generally no changes allowed. If you must postpone or cancel the test, please follow the requirements below.
Cancellation and Postponement Policies:
If you need to cancel or postpone your test, please request via email or fax ONLY. We will not accept telephone cancellation/postponement requests.
1. 75% test fee refund if cancelled/postponed 5 weeks ahead of the confirmed test date. Postponements are ONLY allowed ONE TIME if requested 5 weeks or more before the confirmed test date. Refunds will be issued in 15 business days.
2. 0% test fee refund if cancelled/postponed less than 5 weeks.
3. Candidates may transfer test dates if they notify the test center more than 5 weeks prior to the elected test date. The candidate will be charged an administrative fee ($46.50).
4. Failure to appear for the test is considered a “no show”; a new application, testing fee, and additional documents will be required.
Test Schedule
8:30 a.m. – Check in, Passport and Second ID check.
9:00 a.m. – Test Begins. Late arrivals will not be admitted.
Instructions are given between every test section. At this time candidates will not be able to leave the testing room.
9:05 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. – Listening Test (40 Minutes)
9:50 a.m. – 10:50 a.m. – Reading Test (60 Minutes)
11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – Writing Test (60 Minutes)
12:05 p.m. – 12:40 p.m. – Lunch Break
1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. – Speaking interviews
Key Requirement Reminders:
- Our Center Number is: US050
- All applications with additional documents must be submitted by mail and received 10 business days before each intended test date.
- At the test, each candidate must present TWO (2) valid forms of official identification with a photo and a signature. One of the IDs must be the same as indicated on the application form. Please use your Passport as your primary ID.
Test Results:
Tests are graded by certified examiners here at our center. Results will be issued 13 days after the test date. If the 13th day falls on a public holiday results will be mailed the first working day following the public holiday. Please allow 3 – 14 additional business days for delivery. Per instructions from IELTS International, effective immediately all US IELTS testing centers no longer offer speed-marking services
Parking:
Inlingua does not have a parking lot. The closest parking lot which is open on Saturday is located one block from our center: MARC Parc 1700 N. Moore St. Arlington, VA 22209. Another option is HYATT hotel, located at 1325 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA 22209
