Enrollment Procedure

Payment
Complete the Application Form, make payment according to the program you want to attend, and take the placement test as soon as possible. Payment can be made by cash, U.S. checks, traveler checks, wire transfer, and Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover Card. All new students must pay in full, upon enrollment, the registration fee and tuition for the first session. F-1 students overseas must pay the first two sessions of morning tuition in advance. In addition, those students requesting a Change of Status must pay the Change of Status processing fee at the time of their request. In general, students can choose to take any of the programs that inlingua offers; however, for those students with Student Visas (F-1), the Morning Program is mandatory. F-1 students will be given the choice among the Morning Program, the Afternoon Program and the Intensive Evening Program only if their levels are being offered in the three programs at the time. A credit refund can be issued for the difference in tuition.

Registration Fees
Non-refundable, one-time payment for Group Classes, and one-time payment + materials for Private Classes. Payment for a minimum of 10 hours is usually required. If you are already registered in any of our classes, you will only be required to pay the difference between the two registration fees. Please visit the Tuition and Fees page for details.

Tuition & Books
Prices vary by program. Please visit the Tuition and Fees page for details.

Health Insurance
Strongly recommended for all F-1 students, and may be purchased through inlingua if you do not already have coverage that will follow you as an F-1 student.  Please visit our Tuition & Fees page for details.

Student Visas (F-1)
Students are not required to hold a student visa to study at inlingua, but if you want to come with a student visa, you should request an Application Form from us or apply on-line at our website, and submit it together with the registration fee, and tuition for two months. and financial support documents. Then, we will send you the I-20 Form in 5 to 7 business days, so that you can start the procedures with the American consulate. If the visa is denied, tuition fees will be refunded. Proof of rejection must be submitted to us (complete original I-20 Form or Letter of Rejection from the U.S. Consulate). All refund requests must be made within 180 days and accompanied by the original payment receipt(s).

Rush services for a fee are available upon request.

Financial Support Documents: The Financial Supporting documents that you need to send us are

1) Letter from your bank showing name on the account, date the account was opened, and your current balance. You can present many letters if you have accounts at different banks, or just one letter listing several accounts at the same bank.

2) Letter from employment showing the date you were hired, your position, and your salary.

3) If someone else (sponsor) will be financially responsible for your expenses during your stay in the United States, you must present a notarized Letter of Financial Support from that sponsor. This is a simple letter specifically mentioning that he/she will assume that responsibility. Also, the letters mentioned in items 1 and 2 must be from that sponsor, not from you.

Please note that all documents must be translated into English.

You can have the letters faxed to (703) 527-9866. Inlingua cannot prepare or send you the I-20 Form without having first received a copy of your valid passport and the Financial Supporting documents.

Courier
If the I-20 Form needs to be sent to the student by courier, there will be a charge for shipping.  Please visit the Tuition and Fees page for details.

Airport Transfer and Assistance
A school representative will meet the student and help him/her at the airport. Then, our representative will explain details about the city, school, and accommodation, and will take him/her to the family, hotel, or any other arranged place, making the student feel more at ease from the very beginning. We recommend including this important service. It is especially helpful in case the students encounter problems at the airport with visas, documents, delayed or lost baggage, transportation, immigration, etc. Transfer is available from Dulles International Airport (IAD), and from Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA). Please see the Tuition and Fees page for details.

Homestay
You must request Homestay at least 4 weeks in advance so we may find you a suitable American family. Please complete the Application for Homestay and pay the Homestay Finder’s Fee (paid only once and non-refundable). If you are abroad, you also have to send us the first month’s Homestay payment along with the finder’s fee before inlingua looks for a family for you. After the first month you will pay inlingua directly by the 25th of each month for the following month. The family is always paid one month in advance. If you are already in the United States, you only need to pay the finder’s fee before we look for a family. After the family is found, you will pay directly to inlingua, always in advance on or before the 25th for the following month. If a Homestay period is less than 31 days, you must make your payment for the total number of days in that period. The price includes a furnished private bedroom, breakfast and dinner seven days a week, and also lunch on weekends. Please see the Tuition and Fees page for details.
